Build The Future of Rohingya

Dear Friends, we are sharing with you here a short video of our visit last month to our partner school in Kuantan, Malaysia, the Rohingya Peace Institute (RPI).

Let's continue to work together to give these refugees the education they deserve. Enjoy!

The Rohingya of Myanmar are a people who have been rendered stateless since 1982. As a result, they have been systematically deprived of many basic human rights, including the right to education.

Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya have sought refuge in neighbouring countries, including in Malaysia. However, Rohingya refugees in Malaysia are not allowed to study in national schools.

The Rohingya Peace Institute is a school for Rohingya children and adults based in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia. It was established in 2016 by Rohingya refugee youth who wanted to ensure that children and adults from their communities could access free, quality and well-rounded education.

RPI is managed by The Geutanyoe Foundation since its establishment, as part of our aspiration to support the emergence of a generation of Rohingya refugee educators who will lead by example and advocate for education for all Rohingya refugees as well as all refugees in Malaysia.

We are dedicated to cultivating and upholding values of humanity, dignity, peace and sustainability in Aceh and Southeast Asia.
